Don and Dwane Ehrich, two 50+ brothers hiking the southern Oregon border with NV and CA in a series of day hikes from E to W. Started in Jan 2010 and planned to do the trip in 15-20 mile day hikes. As of Oct 2011 we've completed 19 legs and about 250 miles of the 374 mile trip and our furthest west point to date is the Klamath River. Weather that very first weekend made us defer from the plan of doing the whole route consecutively. Snow prevented us from reaching the "3 state corner".
Good job guys...sounds like a great adventure! How much of the journey is on private lands? John Lampe
ReplyDeleteI fugure about 30% total will be across private lands. We crossed about 10 miles of it in the first two segments and never had to cross a posted fence or gate. However, about five miles of the pastures we crossed west of McDermitt had the fence line along the southern road posted which we didnt' see until driving back into town.
